Acts 16:16 The history of the humankind is filled with events that seem to have little importance – at least if they are compared to those current events, which are relevant, and vivid.- Anyway, this is only apparent, because these events of little importance have a mysterious inner force, a remarkable will, and unique grandeur that make them extremely significant in the time when they took place and they even over passed the material dimensions of their characters, affecting a great deal of people and a space much larger than the ones involved when the event took place. One of these moments is the one that occurred in the dawn of April 6th in 1926 here in Monterrey. I would like to mention two events in order to try putting in context the events that took place on April 6th in 1926. One has to do with World History; while the other with the history of Primitive Christianity. The first one took place in Strasburg also in a dawn of April 6th, 1926, but in 1793 in a poor house of a humble man named Rouget de L’ Isle. In France It seeded that more important events were taking place: on April 20, Louis XVI had just declared war to Austria and Prussia, just to mention one of them. Therefore people in the world were more concerned about more important things than in was happening that dawn in the house mentioned above. However, time that set things in the right dimension put the events in the right proportion. Louis XVI was abolished, his world was destroyed for ever, and France was not a monarchy anymore. There is still something of that France which the majority of the people in the world have heard at least once in their life: La Marseilles, French national anthem. This amazing composition was created in the dawn of April 6, 1792 in a humble house in Strasburg. The second one took place in Troas port, which is mentioned in the book Acts, which was written with all the simplicity of an old manuscript and tell all about the people whose life and faith changed the world. There you can read this: “Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas”. There a wonderful thing happened one of those apparently non important events took pace (like the one we have mentioned about): a very tired man lay down in order to sleep, he was so tired of trying so hard, of talking but not heard, of calling with no response. Since his people didn’t want to listen to him he left for Phrygia and Galatia with the purpose of spreading the news that had changed his life, but for some reason, even when the tried, something didn’t allow him to spread the gospel in Asia, he was tired of trying, he lay down to sleep and then something extraordinary happened, a vision appeared to Paul, in which a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, asking for his help. At this moment he stood up for helping him. That man was Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, and the result of that decision was the first Christian, Lydia as well as the conversion of her family. It seems like a little if we count the number of Christians, but that dawn the decision made by a man, changed the rout not only of Lydia’s family but the one of all the continent: Europe as well as the one of a civilization –our Eastern civilization. After them, a lot of families will gather in the Church he started in Europe. All of this was as a result of an instant in time and a risky decision. It was this decision that made the difference. The Apostle Paul could have thought it was a dream, (Why not? I might have been his wish of spreading the gospel) or a hallucination. No. The Apostle Paul believed this vision was a signal, somebody’s call for whom is familiar with the world misery. He believed and made the decision, and as a result Christianity got to the East. Something very likely to what mentioned above happened on April 6th 1926 in the City of the Mountains, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, México. One of these crucial moments changed the history in a significant way. It was still dark, when Eusebio Joaquín González heard a voice that would change not only his future life but the religious life in Mexico and in the World. There were just a few words: “Your name will be Aarón, I will make it remarkable in the entire world and it will be a blessing.” This was not part of a methodic plan prepared in advance to beat the religion of the majority as many ill-intentioned say. No, Aarón Joaquín didn’t have a governmental office. For those who think this ignore the Calles’s project has a name: It was called Mexican Catholic Church. The truth is really different. He was alone that dawn in April, and remained like this with no other company but his wife’s, sharing together suffered privations for so many years. Why did he suffer that? Because he head a voice that shook his soul, he saw something he had not seen before and understood he was not that alone as he would thought, but instead he knew there was Somebody who would guide him and the one that would go after him. It was not only a moment among the minions of seconds that time has. No. Eusebio Joaquín believed and took the risks of his belief: he became Aarón Joaquín, and he started to spread the Gospel of the Lord accompanied by his Bible and his faith. You might not now much about this event, but maybe you have seen the temple The Light of the World or perhaps you have heard of us. Let me tell you that we are here because on April 6th, 1926, Aarón Joaquín knew this would be possible today April 6th, 2009 there are brothers in 42 nations in the world. |
